
FRSWCD to Host Feral Swine Workshop Dec. 3
The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District, in partnership with UGA Cooperative Extension, UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, and USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will offer a FREE informational workshop on feral swine at the Grady County Ag Center . Topics include feral swine behavior, biology, and removal best practices. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

Flint River Fresh Launches 2022 Capital Campaign
Following the June 3 Board meeting in Albany, Flint River Fresh officially launched their 2022 Capital Campaign, an annual organizational effort to engage local businesses in supporting the ongoing work of Flint River Fresh.

High School Students Awarded Scholarship at Natural Resources Conservation Workshop

Atlanta Braves and Bally Sports South Recognize Fredando Jackson and Flint River Fresh during 2021 Community Heroes Week
During the Flint River Fresh board meeting on June 2, the Atlanta Braves Foundation announced Executive Director Fredando Jackson and Flint River Fresh as a recipient the 2021 Community Heroes Award. The Flint River Fresh Board of Directors was thrilled to invite Atlanta Braves, players, Bally Sports south broadcasters, Braves Foundation representatives and Jackson’s friends and family to virtually join the board meeting for the special presentation.
Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Brings Destination Ag to Seminole County
On April 21, he Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District sponsored Destination Ag for second grade students at Seminole County Elementary School. Destination Ag gives students the opportunity to interactively learn the importance of agriculture and natural resources in their daily lives.
Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Welcomes New Supervisors
The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to welcome two new individuals serving on the nine county District Board of Supervisors. Keith Cromartie of Dougherty County – elected in November--Casey Cox of Mitchell County—appointed by the Governor in April—will serve in their respective counties in Supervisor positions that were previously vacant.
2021 Natural Resources Conservation Workshop Announced
The Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District is pleased to announce the 60thAnnual Natural Resources Conservation Workshop on June 27th – July 2nd, 2021 held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. The workshop is available to rising 10th, 11th, and 12thgraders in the state of Georgia.

Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Implements ReLeaf Tree Restoration Program in Decatur County
This spring, the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District lead a project for tree canopy restoration through the Southwest Georgia ReLeaf Program.

At the virtual annual meeting on January 15th, the Georgia Association of Conservation District honored 9 District Supervisors from the Flint River District who have made a long-term commitment as District Supervisors.

Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District Presented Clean 13 Water Heroes Award by Leading Water Protection Coalition
Today, Georgia’s leading water protection coalition presented its Clean 13 Water Heroes Award to the Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District (the District) for leading the way toward more sustainable agriculture in the heart of Georgia’s breadbasket. The District is responsible for bringing millions of dollars in private and public funds to improve irrigation efficiency impacting some 13 million acres of cropland in southwest Georgia.

First FRSWCD Summer Internship Program a Success
The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District welcomed a new team member this summer through a new District internship program. Bryce Phillips joined the team in May as the 2020 Smart Irrigation Intern.

Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Announces Winners of the 2020 Stewardship Week Poster Contest
Each spring the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) selects a theme to celebrate Stewardship Week, which promotes the importance of individuals conserving natural resources This year’s theme, “Where would we BEE without Pollinators?” allowed students to explore the environmental and agricultural benefits of pollinators.

Irrigator Pro 2.0 Released for 2020 Season
rrigator Pro, a computer program developed by the National Peanut Research Laboratory, uses decades of historical crop data, field, and soil conditions to provide growers with an irrigation recommendation. This innovative tool has been trusted for irrigation scheduling decisions in corn, cotton, and peanut production across the country for years.
Georgia Water Coalition Releases Video Honoring the District, Clean 13 Award Winner
Today, the Georgia Water Coalition released a video highlighting the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District (FRSWCD) and the District’s conservation work. The video honors Clean 13 award winners, which were announced by the Coalition in September.

Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Launches Feral Swine Outreach Campaign
The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District (FRSWCD) is proud to announce the launch of a feral swine outreach campaign led by the Georgia Feral Swine partnership to release newly updated resources highlighting the issue of feral swine in Georgia. The Georgia Feral Swine partnership consists of the FRSWCD and partners who have collaborated to provide essential education on the negative impact of feral swine in Georgia and provide information and resources for impacted landowners.
