The Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District is pleased to announce the 2024 Stewardship Week theme: “May The Forest be With You Always”. Stewardship Week will be celebrated April 28 - May 5, 2024. This is an annual celebration to promote natural resource conservation across various topics including soil, water, and habitat.
To mark this celebration the Flint River SWCD is offering its annual poster contest to kindergarten through fifth grade students from counties located in the district. These counties include Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, and Seminole counties. Posters must incorporate the theme and title, “May The Forest Be With You Always”. A digital photograph of the front of the poster and entry form will be accepted by emailing to abby@flintriverswcd.org by Friday, May 3, 2024.
Monetary prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners. The first place winner will also advance to the state competition where the poster entry will be judged against other entries from across Georgia.
“Participating in the Poster Contest is a fun and educational learning experience for students of all ages to celebrate Stewardship Week,” says Education Coordinator Abby Davis.
This year marks the 69th Anniversary of the National Association of Conservation District Stewardship Week. During Stewardship Week, local conservation districts and state associations provide educational resources on the importance of soil health, water quality, pollinator habitats, and other conservation topics.
