Stewardship Week

The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District (FRSWCD) celebrates National Stewardship Week. Promoted by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), Stewardship Week promotes conservation awareness and education by sharing resources to engage students in these topics. This yearly celebration is held between the last Sunday of April and the first Sunday in May.

This year, Flint River will recognize Stewardship Week by sharing educational resources to help students understand ecological and conservation topics.

For 2026, Flint River has decided to abstain from our annual poster contest. For information about previous contests, scroll down.

Stewardship Week

This Year’s Stewardship Theme

Stewardship Week will be observed from April 26 to May 3, 2026. The NACD has announced that the theme for 2026 Stewardship Week is Soil. Where It All Begins.

Soil is not just the ground we walk on. It is the starting point for healthy food, clean water, thriving habitats, and resilient communities. It holds water, cycles nutrients, and provides homes for billions of living organisms that help keep nature in balance. It keeps roots in place, helps prevent flooding, and supports wildlife and people alike.

Visit the NACD website to discover more about this year’s Stewardship Theme.

Contest Rules

Each year during Stewardship Week, we are always impressed to see how students have taken the themes and applied them so creatively. We see a great value to offering students hands on opportunities for conservation learning, such as the annual Poster Contest.
