2026 Education Grant Winners Announced

Camilla, Georgia – The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors have selected two recipients of the Agricultural and Environmental Education Grant at their monthly District meeting.

Bainbridge High School’s Tracy Champagne and Stephanie Harvey at Martin Luther King Jr Elementary’s OASIS after-school program in Albany were each awarded $1,000 to support specialized, hands-on programming focused on agricultural and environmental topics.

The Agricultural and Environmental Education Grant is funded through the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District (the District) and is available to educators within the District’s nine-county region, including Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, and Seminole counties.

“The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District is committed to advancing conservation education efforts throughout southwest Georgia by sponsoring events, contests, and student organizations that promote agricultural and environmental awareness,” said District Chairman Marty McLendon. “The District’s annual sponsorship of the Agricultural and Environmental Education Grant is one way we support educating the next generation of agricultural and conservation leaders.”

The District is proud to support this grant due to the lasting impact it can have on students across southwest Georgia. The Agricultural and Environmental Education Grant was designed to further the District’s commitment to agriculture and natural resources by empowering educators to develop innovative, engaging programs rooted in environmental studies. The selected programs reflect the District’s goal of strengthening environmental literacy while highlighting the creativity and dedication of teachers who strive to equip students with meaningful, real-world knowledge.
