United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) South Region Outreach Coordinator Charlie Grace has invited Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District (the District) Soil Health Coordinator Taylor Sinquefield to join the Georgia State Outreach Advisory Board.
"The purpose of the Georgia State Outreach Advisory Board is to collaborate with our partners as a support base to provide expert insight and/or contact to our clients, new customers, and underserved farmers, landowners, and ranchers, also, as a support base for outreach and upcoming outreach activities/events, etc."
The outreach advisory board is comprised of members from across the state and includes various sectors of the agricultural industry. NRCS agents, University of Georgia (UGA) and Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Cooperative Extension specialists, local farmers, and various non-profit agricultural organizations are what make up the diverse background of board members.
"USDA-NRCS has been a critical partner for the District and we're thrilled Taylor will represent the District on the NRCS Georgia Outreach Advisory Board," says Perri Cooper, Executive Director of the District. "This is a great opportunity as we continue to expand programming and organizational capacity to work closely as partners and ensure all stakeholders and producers in our District and beyond are engaged and aware of programs and support."
The first meeting was virtual and was held on February 26 and included the board members along with NRCS GA state conservationist Terrence Rudolf. Ideas were discussed on how to collaborate outreach efforts along with dates of upcoming events. Sinquefieldshared information on education grant opportunities through the District as well as upcoming dates for 2 soil health field days hosted by the District. The next meeting of the USDA-NRCS Georgia State Outreach Advisory Board will be in person meeting in Perry, GA later in the year, date to be determined.
