On November 15-17, 2023, USDA-NRCS held a conservation planning, recordkeeping, and programs education and outreach classroom training series in Albany, GA at the Riverfront Resource Center. Partners for the workshop included the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District, Fort Valley State University Extension, Southern Farmers Collaborative Group, and Ag Connection. About 30 participants, including new and young farmers, were present throughout the three-day workshop. Each day the workshop ended shortly after an included lunch. The Flint District provided Chick-Fil-A boxes for lunch to participants on the first day. Marlina Tongue, soil conservationist with NRCS presented on conservation planning and programs. Stefan Price, county extension agent with FVSU extension presented on agricultural record keeping. Taylor Sinquefield, soil health coordinator with the Flint District presented district programs, no-till drill rental, and introduction to soil health.
