Meet our Team: Abby Davis

The Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District has a lot of new faces, and a few you may recognize. We’ll be taking the next few weeks to introduce and re-introduce you to our wonderful team, share more about their role at the District, and a bit about each of them. Next feature in our Meet our Team series is Abby Davis. Abby has been with the District since 2014. In October of 2019, Abby transitioned from her role as a Conservation Technician to the District’s first ever Education Coordinator to manage the District’s many growing education and outreach programs, such as Destination Ag, Tisk/Task, our annual education grants, and Wildlife Shows. Abby currently lives in Edison with her two children and is working towards completing a degree in Environmental Horticulture from Albany State. Read our interview with Abby below!

Where are you originally from?

I was born in Nashville, TN but have lived in southwest Georgia since I was 5.

What impact to you hope to make as a part of the District?

As a part of the Flint River SWCD I hope to instill in our youth a love, curiosity, and responsibility for their natural world.

What inspires you to work in conservation?

Even as a child I loved nature and was concerned about environmental issues, a job that encompassed conservation and nature just seemed to be a natural fit.

If you were a common Georgia crop, what would it be?

A Longleaf Pine

What could we find you doing on a typical Saturday afternoon?

Exploring Kolomoki Mounds State Park with my kids, or messing around in the yard.
